What is Comfort level?

One's comfort level can be defined as the number of data and/or frames of reference a person is comfortable seeing in a holistic fashion.  One's comfort level is dynamic.  That is, as a person becomes more familiar with K-bar, his or her comfort level increases.  Typically, as a person's comfort level increases, his or her ability to absorb the significance of interrelated data also increases.  

What are Data?

Data are raw, basic quantitative or qualitative observations collected. These data are processed or transformed to produce information.  By design, K-bar transforms quantitative data (or numbers) and qualitative data (e.g., symbols) into Information in a visual format that is often much easier for a user to understand and gain insight.  

What is Holistic?

Holistic is an approach to presenting and absorbing information.  Taking a holistic approach, the complete picture is of greater significance than the individual data that make up the picture.  K-bar uses a holistic approach.  That is, K-bar presents the user with a variety of data in a manner that allows their relationship and their relative significance to be seen easily in a single glance.  

What is Information?

Information is a stimulus in a form and/or context that allow it to have meaning.  Often we understand little when we are simply shown bunches of numbers.  K-bar converts bunches of numbers (or quantitative data) into visual information.  The presentation of numbers (quantitative data) as visual information improves one's ability to understand and appreciate their meaning.  

What is Information Society?

An information society can be defined as one in which the dominant product is information.  An information society is best seen in contrast to a manufacturing or industrial society from which the dominant products are physical and/or tangible items or commodities.

 

In an information society, it is information itself that is the dominant source of wealth. That is, in an information society, information is most precious. Thus it follows that the handling, massaging, and transformation of information into usable forms are also very important issue. K-bar is a universal tool that eases and enhances these processes.
